#019: Magnetic Guitar Plectrum
Guitarist (and Aussie Magnets customer) Rick has been using a Rare Earth magnet as a plectrum (or pluck) for his electric guitar, creating a new sound like nothing we’ve ever heard!
Electric guitars already use magnets to pick up the vibrations of the strings, but adding another magnetic field to the mix introduces a subtle ringing and static electric tone that’s completely unique. By varying the distance between the magnet and the pickup, Rick can control the intensity of the effect.
Rick uses a magnet like our 25mm x 2.5mm Rare Earth Disc, but you can vary the effect by changing the size and strength of the magnet. Thanks, Rick!
